Hello,
Do you grow only heirloom plants? I noticed you grew some garlics. I have been trying to find some of those and also yams or sweet potatoes.
Do you like leeks? I have some really good ones here and chives also.
The people who lived here many years ago grew them. They are delicious!
Let me know what you think.

Lynne,
Yes we grow Heirlooms whenever we can. We hope to do more and more of that. We pick up seeds from lots of different places, but the bulk of it we order online. There are some good places. We also save seeds too, so hopefully as time goes on we won't have to buy seeds at all.
We have bought from seed savers exchange and we also like Baker Creek Heirloom seeds. In fact, Baker Creek has a village and seed farm in Mansfield Missouri, which may not be far from you. They are having a spring planting festival on May 3rd and 4th. I would really like to make the trip to go this year. We have been dying to get up there and look at their gardens. You could check out their website www.rareseeds.com
Jacob loves to order seed catalogs. We have many and we love to pour over them all winter and plan and dream about our spring gardens. Most places will send them to you for free, you just have to request them online.
The garlic we grew from a bag of organic bulbs that we bought at Sam's Club believe it or not and the sweet potatoes we started slips from where also organic bought at a grocery store in Texas. We haven't tried any slips in Arkansas yet but in Texas we just kept them in the window where they got lots of sunlight and they did great. Jacob has done a couple of posts on sweet potato slips. You should check them out and if you have any more specific questions feel free to ask. We are more than happy to help.
Yes we love chives. In fact, I have chives that I brought all the way from Utah. Everytime we move I dig them up and take them with me. We have not tried leeks, but I am sure we would love them as well.
Good luck with your garden! I can hardly wait for spring! Looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt!
